Meet The Team

Founder and Director

Ursula Portolesi

Founder and Director
Ursula is passionate about supporting children and adults with additional needs and their families to be the best that they can be. She has developed Making Milestones to offer families a service which combines a range of flexible therapy options, a skilled and passionate clinical team and outstanding facilities to support both children and adults to meet their goals and reach their potential.
As well as running the practice Ursula works with children and adults to build effective communication skills and safe eating and swallowing.

Speech Pathology

Ursula Portolesi

Founder and Senior Speech Pathologist
Ursula completed her studies in Speech Pathology at Finders University and has many years experience working with both adults and children. She works with children to develop speech, language and social communication skills, as well as promote safe eating and a varied and healthy diet. She has an interest in literacy development and has done additional training in supporting children with dyslexia.
Ursula also works with adult clients with communication difficulties and dysphagia to develop effective communication and safe eating.

Jo Brenecki

Senior Speech Pathologist
Jo is a speech pathologist with over 25 years of experience in working with children with communication challenges and their families.
Jo is passionate about early intervention and autism spectrum disorders and also enjoys supporting children with speech, language, and literacy difficulties. Jo also enjoys supporting students and recent graduates to build their clinical skills and confidence as a clinician.

Madeline Campbell

Speech Pathologist

Maddi completed her studies in Speech Pathology at La Trobe University and has experience working with children with speech and language delays.

Maddi moved to Adelaide in 2022 and joined the Making Milestones team. She enjoys working with children with speech delays and disorders, fluency issues, autism and language delays. She loves to work with children in preschool and  primary school, working on speech, language and social communication. Maddi completed her training in SOS feeding in 2022, to further develop her skills in working with children who are fussy eaters.

Maddi will be on maternity leave in 2024 as she and her partner welcome their first child.

Alyce Carmichael

Speech Pathologist

Alyce completed her studies in Speech Pathology at La Trobe University and has experience working with children with speech and language delays, literacy difficulties, social communication and autism.

Alyce has worked in Adelaide since completing her studies. She enjoys working with preschool and school aged children with speech delays and disorders, social communication challenges and language delays. Alyce completed her training in SOS feeding in 2022, to further develop her skills in working with children who are fussy eaters.

Kyra Zonia

Speech Pathologist

Kyra completed her degree in Speech Pathology at Flinders University in 2021 and began at Making Milestones in 2022. She works part time from our Woodville office.

Kyra enjoys working with preschool children with speech and language delays and autism. She particularly enjoys working with children with speech sound disorders.

Julia Olah

Speech Pathologist

Julia graduated with a degree in Speech Pathology from Flinders University in 2015. She has had some time away from the workforce, raising her two children. She is currently doing her re-entry training at Making Milestones.

Julia enjoys working with children of all ages, with speech, language and literacy delays and disorders.

Michelle Ogunniyi

Speech Pathologist

Michelle completed her degree in Speech Pathology at Flinders University in 2022. She worked as an Allied Health Assistant with children with speech and language delays and autism in schools, preschools and child care centres at Making Milestones in 2022.

 

Michelle joined our team in 2023 as a speech pathologist working with children in schools, child care centres, homes and at our clinic at Eyre.

Jess Langguth

Speech Pathologist

Jess completed her degree in Speech Pathology at Flinders University in 2022. She worked as an Allied Health Assistant with children with speech and language delays and autism in schools, preschools and child care centres at Making Milestones in 2022.

Jess joined our team in 2023 as a speech pathologist working with children in schools, child care centre and home settings.

Millie Sharrad

Speech Pathologist

Millie completed her degree in Speech Pathology from Flinders University in 2022. She has had experience during her studies working in schools and private practice. Millie joined our speech pathology team in 2023.

Millie enjoys working with children of all ages, with speech, language and literacy delays and disorders as well as with adult clients with eating and communication difficulties. Millie will be working in schools, child care centres and homes as well as from our new Northern Office at Eyre.

Occupational Therapy

Caitlin McKenzie

Occupational Therapy Team Leader

Caitlin joined Making Milestones in 2021 and in 2023 took the role of OT Team Leader. This role includes supporting the less experienced OTs to provide the best possible service to their clients while developing their OT practice.

Caitlin has many years experience and a passion for working with children of all ages with a variety of learning difficulties including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. She aims to increase independence in activities of daily living, fine and gross motor skills, sensory and emotional regulation and behaviour. She is passionate about working closely with families to provide the best support for children.

Maria Halkias

Senior Occupational Therapist
Maria is an experienced occupational therapist who joined Making Milestones in 2022.
Maria works part-time with both adults and children. Maria has many years experience working with adults as an occupational therapist and now as a parent of three young children she enjoys working with children and their families.

Maria Nguyen

Senior Occupational Therapist
Maria is an experienced occupational therapist who joined Making Milestones in 2023.
Maria works with children of all ages in the clinic. Maria is passionate about developing children’s skills and independence and has a particular interest in working with older children and adolescents.

Nicholas Lopresti

Occupational Therapist

Nick completed his studies in Occupational Therapy at the University of South Australia in 2021. He joined the Making Milestones team as a student working as an Allied Health Assistant and has worked as a qualified Occupational Therapist since 2022.

Nick enjoys working with children of all ages and developing their emotional regulation skills.

Henry Thai

Occupational Therapist
Henry graduated from UniSA in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Henry works with both adults and children and is passionate about promoting independence and improving quality of life for people of all ages. Henry speaks fluent Vietnamese and enjoys supporting families in the local Vietnamese community.

Stephen Lor

Occupational Therapist
Stephen completed his studies at UniSA to be an occupational therapist in 2021.
Stephen joined Making Milestones in 2022, working part-time with both adults and children. He works both in our clinic at Woodville and offsite in schools and homes.

Sonia Dahdah

Occupational Therapist
Sonia completed her studies in Occupational Therapy in 2022. She joined the Making Milestones Occupational Therapy team in 2023.
Sonia is a passionate advocate for supporting all children at any developmental stage of their life. It is her passion to help others achieve goals across a diverse range of areas. This includes activities of daily living, motor/social skills and sensory/emotional regulation. She enjoys working closely with families and other support networks to assist in providing optimal support for her clients.

Sophie Summers

Occupational Therapist

Sophie completed her studies in Occupational Therapy at UniSA in 2022. She has joined the Making Milestones team in 2023. 

Sophie enjoys working with children of all ages and of all abilities to develop their play and social skills. Sophie prides herself on forming good relationships with children and their families. She enjoys helping clients work towards and achieve their goals, but most importantly she loves to see children learn and have fun during therapy sessions. 

Sophie works in schools, child care centres and homes as well as from our Northern Office at Eyre.

Lisa Nguyen

Occupational Therapist
Lisa completed her studies in Occupational Therapy in 2021. She joined the Making Milestones Occupational Therapy team in 2023.
Lisa is a passionate about supporting all children at any developmental stage of their life in activities of daily living, motor/social skills and sensory/emotional regulation. She works across schools and child care centres as well as from our Eyre clinic.

Social Work

Gina Mezzino

Mental Health Social Worker

Gina is a social worker with over 25 years of experience.

Gina has extensive experience working with parents and children to support children’s social emotional development and behaviour. She has many years experience in working with First Nations families.

Trish Nesci

Mental Health Social Worker
Trish is a social worker with over 25 years of experience. She is qualified to work with clients with mental health needs.
Trish has extensive experience supporting families to develop their children’s social emotional development and behaviour. She has worked for many years with migrants and refugees and is passionate about providing support for families with culturally and linguistically diverse.

Physiotherapy

Brian Le

Physiotherapist

Brian graduated as a physiotherapist in 2017 from UniSA and has worked in a range of areas within the field of physiotherapy.

He joined the Making Milestones team in 2023 and is keen to work with children of all ages and abilities to develop their strength, coordination and motor skills. Brian works across both the Woodville and Eyre clinics.

Nicky Nguyễn

Physiotherapist
Nicky graduated as a physiotherapist from UniSA in 2018. He has worked in a range of areas within the physiotherapy field.
He joined the Making Milestones team in 2023 and is keen to support children of all ages and abilities to develop their strength, coordination and motor skills. Nicky works across both the Woodville and Eyre clinics.

Dietetics

Sarah Wells

Accredited Practicing Dietician
Sarah is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with 10 years experience. She has undertaken a number of post graduate qualifications including Peadiatric Nutrition and Dietetics at Monash University (2016), ASCIA training and professional development with a specific focus on spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorder and complex feeding challenges including ARFID/PFD. She will also be a qualified Feeding Therapist in November 2023.
Sarah‘s passion is working with neurodiverse children on the spectrum, developmental delay and sensory sensitivities. “Eating is one of the most sensory rich experiences we as humans can do. I love working with families to fill nutritional gaps while expanding variety of accepted foods in a environment that is child-led and stress free.” Sarah has lived experience being a mum of ex premature twin boys with sensory feeding challenges.
She also has experience working in the area of infant and child nutrition including introducing solids, poor growth, healthy lunchboxes, managing nutrient deficiencies, allergy/intolerance, gastrointestinal complaints including constipation and tube feeding.

Administration, Finance and Program Development

Leia Lastella

Administration Manager

Leia is a founding member of Making Milestones who manages the day to day running of the clinic including referrals, bookings, enquiries and billing. Leia has a background in business management and her friendly manner and professional skills keep everything running smoothly.

Leia is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to support both clients and other team members.

Tammy Francesca

Administration Manager

Tammy works alongside Leia to manage the day to day running of the clinic including referrals, bookings, enquiries and billing. Tammy has a background in business management. Her friendly manner and passion for supporting both staff and clients is a great asset to our team. Tammy is also currently studying to be an Allied Health Assistant focusing on speech pathology support.

Tammy is available on Wednesdays and Fridays to support both clients and other team members.

Cathy Armiento

Finance Manager

Cathy has many years experience in finance and has been supporting Making Milestones from the beginning. She joined the team full-time in 2022 and supports both clients and team members with all aspects of accounts and finance.

Cathy is available Mondays through to Thursdays at the Woodville office.

Sophie Hill

Administration Manager

Sophie works alongside Lissa to manage the day to day running of the Eyre clinic supporting both our northern clients and clinicians. Sophie has worked in allied health and private practice for a number of years and is both friendly and efficient.

Sophie is available most mornings at our Eyre to support both clients and other team members.

Allied Health Assistants

Alexandra Armiento

Allied Health Assistant

Ally is currently studying Speech Pathology at Uni SA. She is a valued member of our team who works across a number of programs and has a great rapport with our younger clients in particular.

Ally works at Making Milestones as an Allied Health Assistant running our Sensory Playgroups and providing individual support for children with speech and language needs at preschool, school and child care under the direction of our clinicians. She also works in our Party Hub and on reception at our Woodville Clinic.

Victoria Di Nero

Allied Health Assistant

Victoria is currently studying Psychology at Uni SA. She works across a number of programs and loves supporting our younger clients to meet their developmental goals.

Victoria works at Making Milestones as an Allied Health Assistant running our Sensory Playgroups and providing individual support for children with speech and language needs at preschool, school and child care under the direction of our clinicians. She also works in our Party Hub and on reception at our Woodville Clinic.

Monique Jones

Allied Health Assistant

Monique is currently studying Speech Pathology at Uni SA. She works across a number of programs including with preschool clients and in our sensory playgroup.

Monique works at Making Milestones as an Allied Health Assistant running our Sensory Playgroups and providing individual support for children with speech and language needs at preschool, school and child care under the direction of our clinicians. She also works in our Party Hub and on reception at our Woodville Clinic.

Alana De Rosa

Allied Health Assistant

Alana is currently studying Speech Pathology at UniSA. She is keen to support people of all ages to develop their communication skills.

Alana joined the Making Milestones team in 2023 as an Allied Health Assistant providing individual support for children to develop their communication skills under the direction of our clinicians at both Woodville and Eyre clinics.

Isaac Handley

Allied Health Assistant

Isaac is currently studying Occupational Therapy at Uni SA. He works with clients from preschoolers to adolescents in clinic and community settings.

Isaac works at Making Milestones as an Allied Health Assistant providing individual support for children to develop daily living and life skills under the direction of our clinicians at our Woodville Clinic.

Monica Pham

Allied Health Assistant

Monica is a qualified and experienced Allied Health Assistant and also a qualified Exercise Physiologist. She is currently studying Occupational Therapy. Monica has experience supporting people of all ages and abilities.

Monica joins the Making Milestones team in 2023 as an Allied Health Assistant to work alongside our team of therapists to support clients to develop their skills in a range of settings.

Ellie Luckett

Allied Health Assistant

Ellie is currently studying Speech Pathology at Flinders University. She is keen to support people of all ages to develop their communication skills.

Ellie joins the Making Milestones team in 2023 as an Allied Health Assistant providing individual support for children to develop their communication skills under the direction of our clinicians at our Eyre clinic.
